Why are my stickers cutting off center? - Tip Tuesday

Why are my stickers cutting off center? New Tip Tuesday Blog Topic from myplannerenvy.com

I want to start a new series on my blog called Tip Tuesday. I don't know how often I will post in this series, but I feel like I have wanted to talk about this for a long time now, but I haven't taken the time to sit down and write this post. Maybe you are having the same issues and this post might help you out?

So I am starting out with this topic: Why are my stickers cutting of center? That is a question I kept asking myself when I first started designing and making my own stickers. I calibrated my Silhouette and it is still cutting off center, which was driving me bonkers! In the beginning stages of my blog I was cutting my original un-flattened designs, and even then they were still cutting off center.

Then I thought, "Hey, I should be cutting the actual files I post to my blog to make sure they cut for the people who will be cutting these with their Silhouette." When I printed the flattened files that I post to my blog, I realized that the colors and details were brighter and crisper on my sticker paper, but even still, the files were cutting off center.

So I started to mess around with the cutlines on my printables. In all of my printables available for download on my blog, I always group the cutlines together in the file. So I clicked on the actual cutlines and used the arrows on my keyboard to move them once to the left because my stickers seemed to be cutting off to the right side. After the stickers were cut, it was an improvement, but they were still off. So I printed another sticker sheet and still kept my cutlines one click to the left, I then moved my cutlines using the arrows on my keyboard down one click and cut my stickers and they cut PERFECT!

Here are a couple of pictures of my cutlines in the original setting and then moved to the left one click and down one click. The difference is so subtle, but it makes the world of a difference!

So when I have cut other files from other planner blogs, I have experimented with moving the cutlines and sometimes I only have to move them to the left and sometimes I just have to move them down, but I always have to move them.

I am not sure if this is the case with your Silhouette, but I thought some of you might be running into the same issues and thought this post would help you guys out. Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I hope my descriptions and instructions were clear, if they were not or you have any other questions, please feel free to leave me a comment below.

  1. I have this same issue! Mine seems to cut slightly lower. I've tried moving my cut lines but it just seems to make it worse :( We are moving soon so I don't have the time to try again but once I do maybe I'll see an improvement. Thank you so much for your tips!

    1. You are so very welcome! It took me a couple of times to figure out the perfect settings for my machine too.

    1. You should definitely try it. It took me a couple of tries, but I figured it out and I am so happy with the way my stickers cut now.
