Why am I Reformatting some of my Printables - The question I keep getting asked

I posted this on my Facebook Page, but I realize not everybody follows me there. I keep getting asked on my Instagram pics and getting emails asking why I have to reformat some of my printables. So I figured I would make a blog post. This is the message I posted on my Facebook Page:

BLOG UPDATE: Due to a misinterpretation on my part of the Terms of Use, any printable of mine where I have used an icon downloaded from flaticon.com, the link to the download has to be removed from my website. It is considered “Redistribution” and is not allowed. What is allowed, is for me to make a post or video for you showing how you can download the icon from flaticon.com’s site, and show you how to change and edit the icon for yourself, and use for your own personal use. I will work on making videos for you showing my design process in the future, but for now, I am not allowed to let you download the printable from my blog.

As for the posts that I have used flaticon.com’s content, I will leave up a picture of the printable I made, but with a watermark over the top. I will have all of the appropriate links to flaticon.com, so that you can download the icons I used in the printable and directly from them, and be inspired to make the printable for your own personal use.

What does this mean for myplannerenvy.com? Right now I am working on finding Commercial Use Icons that I can use in my printables and upload THOSE into my past printables. This is going to be a long process for me and I still plan on coming out with new printables for you guys, but I want to do it right. I hope that you can be patient with me as I reformat and upload all of my printables so they that they can be used and downloaded honestly.

HERE is a link to a blog post that I made back in December 2015 showing how to make Planner Icon Stickers using Icons from flaticon.com. Since making this video, they have changed their options, and they give you the option to download the Icons in different colors now. Also in the video I say to download the Icons as a PNG, but I would download them as SVG, so that each element of the icon will be it’s own section and you will not have to break it apart to color it. I plan on making an updated video showing and going my in depth, but for now, this will have to do for those of you who want to make these stickers for yourself.

So I was taking down all of my links and pictures of my printables, watermarking them, and putting them up in place of the original pictures on the corresponding blog post. I was doing all of this because of all of the Pins that are on Pinterest. Then I realized that all of the pics with the links to the posts are gone, so the link will take them to a missing post anyway. I have decided that when I take them down, I will remove the old blog post and post the newly reformatted printables in their own blog post, as to not confuse anyone. Slowly, but surely I have been reformatting the printables I have taken down. Some printables I will not reformat, but if you have any requests of which printable you would like me to reformat next, leave me a comment on this post and I will do my best to do those requests first.

Through all of this, you guys have been so supportive and positive in pushing me to just move past the hurdles of this last month. I love this blog and I love sharing what I make with you guys. Thanks again for all of your support.

  1. Thanks for this update. I am glad some of your older layouts will be available again when you find new icons. When I saw some were taken down, I was really sad!

    1. Me too! But I am plugging along and reformatting at least one printable a day now and I have printables going up on every weekday for the next 2 weeks! Some new and some reformatted. It has been fun changing things up though. So the things that were taken down will eventually be put back up. :)

    1. I started working on that one today. I still have to convert it for the Carpe Diem and Mini Happy Planner and I will post it as soon as I can. Thank you for the request.
