Making Shapes in the Silhouette Software - Silhouette Video Tutorial

In this video I show you how to make Tear Drop, Arrow, and Banner Flag shapes as well as how to add a bleed around the outside and add a dash line to the inside of the shape.

Here is a list of functions in the Silhouette Software that I used:
-Offset
-Inset
-Weld
-Edit Point
-Line Style

You can essentially make any shape you want by intersecting the lines of different shapes, highlighting all of the shapes, and then welding them together. It's really simple once you get the hang of it.

HERE is a link to my last video where I show you how I add fill patterns to shapes for my printables.

I hope you guys find this video helpful and if you have any other questions about how to use this software, leave them in the comments below and I will try and answer them or make a video showing you how it can be done.

And as always, thanks for your support and for stopping by!

  1. Hi Jessica!!!! Can you possibly do a video on adding words to your shapes? Like making a weekend banner and adding the word "WEEKEND" to the triangle shaped? I am new to silhouette and would love to make some for my happy planner. I made some banner stickers using your YouTube video tutorial on the arrow, teardrops, and the banner :)

  2. I know you said you do the template file, however, I was wondering I have issues making my banners to fit. They always come out either super big or super small lol. Do you have any size suggestion you are willing to share? I never thought about making a template in Sil software but I will def try it out. It has to be easier than me fighting with GIMP lol

    1. What kind of banner are you trying to do? A weekend banner or just a regular banner flag like I made in the video? I would be more than willing to help you out if I can.

  3. Great tutorials- super useful! I do have a question though... If I have a bunch of shapes and want to add a photo over them, is there a way to merge them to the shape (like group with previous in photoshop)? I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks so much!

    1. You could try the Crop feature in Silhouette. Just place the picture centered in the shape and highlight both the shape and the picture and select Crop.
